Hi, I’m Amanda.
It’s a pleasure to meet you.
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to couchsurf with strangers in the Middle East? Start a glass-bottled oat milk company? Or convert a Subaru Outback into a lean, mean, stealth-camping machine? If so, you’re in the right place.
I’m a writer, entrepreneur, and adventurer. My mission is simple: pursue a meaningful life and share it with others.

Writer
Writing is how I make sense of the world. I’ve written for a number of different publications ranging from small bloggers to nationally distributed newsletters. Here are a few of my best writing samples:

Entrepreneur
Entrepreneurship is my creative outlet. I see the world as it could be rather than just how it is. Here are two examples of businesses I created:
Blue Crate
Blue Crate was a direct-to-consumer oat milk company founded in Washington, DC back in 2017. We manufactured small batch oat milk that was delivered to your door just like the milkman did in the 1950s. Blue Crate worked to become one of the first zero waste consumer-packaged goods brands in the country.
Blue Crate ended operations in 2019. You can read more about the company here.
Counter Consumer
Counter Consumer is an ecommerce concept that helps people turn their unwanted household clutter into extra cash.
Counter Consumer is currently paused. Check out the website I built to learn more about it here.
Adventurer
Adventurism is how I experience life. I believe life is too precious to waste away working a job you don’t like, living a life you don’t love. Here are some adventures I’ve been on:
International Traveler
In 2013 I won a Boren Scholarship to study Arabic in the Middle East.
I lived in northern Jordan and traveled to Lebanon, Israel, Palestine, and Turkey. Aside from living abroad, I’ve also visited Germany, Italy, Austria, France, Iceland, and Haiti.
American Nomad
I left Washington, DC and moved back home to Upstate New York right before the start of the COVID pandemic of 2020.
In late 2021 I decided to pack up my Subaru Outback and hit the road. I spent nine months living in my car as I traversed the country. My travels included visiting more than a dozen national parks and working on a hot air balloon chase crew in Wyoming.
Marathoner
Since 2015 I’ve run 6 marathons. I am currently working towards getting a Boston Qualifying time. My races allowed me to travel to 7 different states.
